no flight
Well, today was my first day of hanging out at the hangar with an airplane ready to go fly, but just watching to see if the weather would cooperate. It didn’t. The weather is really crappy for test flights so the second flight might have to wait a couple of days.
I pulled the cowl off for a careful inspection following the first flight. Nothing was out of place, loose, or leaking. It all looked good except for a little rubbing of the bottom cowl on the exhaust flange on the left side. I rotated the flange a bit and that will create a little more clearance. Oil consumption on the first flight was very minimal. I did notice that the crankcase breather directed onto the exhaust pipe was doing its job of burning off most of what came out. I’m very happy about that. The rest of the airframe checks out as well. Oh yeah, and I pulled the fuse for the AOA for the next couple of flights as it isn’t calibrated and was screaming “angle-angle-push” anytime I was below about 80mph on my first flight :).
After getting things put back together, I taxied over to the fuel pumps and put some more fuel in for next time. I noticed that my right brake is squealing pretty loud when used. I think it is fine, it checks out, maybe it will subside after some more use. Otherwise I’ll find a way to dampen whatever is vibrating so much to setup the squeal.
